Spring Valley Hospital
Celebrates
Its First Anniversary
Oct. 2 marks the first anniversary of Spring Valley
Hospital Medical Center. After receiving licensure, the
hospital opened its doors at 3 PM on Oct. 2, 2003;
the first patient arrived at 3:01 PM. From that moment, the
hospital quickly has become a vital part of the southwest
community.

A Baby Boom
“The Maternity Center has been
quite busy,” says Kelly Hughson,
Director of Women’s Services. “Our
first indication of the volumes we’d reach came when we
delivered 30 babies within the first 30 days of operation.”
The Maternity Center recently delivered its 1,000th
newborn since opening in October. Spring Valley Hospital
also offers Level II nursery services to care for infants
who have special needs. Additionally, family education —
including childbirth and baby-sitting certification classes —
is available.

Physician Offices Open
on Campus
The campus houses a three-story medical office
center, fully occupied by physicians, and an
outpatient diagnostic laboratory, so patients can
obtain blood and other lab tests without leaving
the building. Physicians in the medical center
practice family and internal medicine and
specialize in obstetrics, gynecology, urology and
general surgery. Physicians are currently accepting
appointments to see patients. Call Direct DoctorsSM
Plus at 388-4888 to schedule an appointment.
Enriching Our Community
Spring Valley Hospital held its inaugural Stay Cool ...
Stay Healthy event on July 31. More than 2,000 community
members visited with physicians, participated in free health
screenings and received vital health information. Area
students were able to complete free sports physicals, offered
by doctors who donated their time during the fair.
Seniors attended a panel discussion on Medicare. Panelists
included experts from Health Insight, The Division of Aging
Services, the Attorney General’s office and the Nevada Welfare
Department.

“During the next year, we plan to offer new services to
enhance the care we currently provide. We keep abreast of
new medical technologies and techniques, and strive to offer
them to our patients as quickly as possible,” says Karla Perez,
CEO/Managing Director of Spring Valley Hospital. “I am
proud to be a part of such a talented team of healthcare
professionals. We plan to provide our community with
quality-care services for many years to come.”
