10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hospital Main Lobby To help instill healthy habits in your home, join the more than 5,000 people expected to attend a festive, health-oriented event featuring activities your whole family will enjoy. On Saturday, Oct. 6, don't miss Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center's 16th annual Health & Diabetes Fest. "Diabetes has been growing at an alarming rate for years, and more Las Vegas residents learn they have this chronic condition every day," says Joyce Malaskovitz, PhD, RN, CDE, Director of the Diabetes Treatment Center. "At the Health & Diabetes Fest, we give local residents the information they need to change their habits and live healthier lives. Families dealing with diabetes and other chronic conditions can get specific tools, advice and support to help them manage their diseases." More than 100 vendors will display helpful products and services. In addition, health professionals will be on hand to discuss steps you and your family can take to improve your health. They'll also perform free screenings and exams -- that can give you vital health information -- including hearing, blood pressure, osteoporosis and peripheral artery disease screenings, as well as eye and foot exams. Plan to attend the 16th annual Health & Diabetes Fest, sponsored by the Diabetes Treatment Center at Desert Springs Hospital. Mark your calendar today!
