Stroke Center Certified
Desert Springs is pleased to announce that its stroke program is now certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. The stroke program is just one component of the hospital's neurosciences services, which includes a new biplane table and MRI machine.Hospital Going Tobacco-Free
To promote better health for our patients, employees, visitors and staff physicians, the entire campus of Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center will become tobacco-free on November 19, in conjunction with the Great American Smokeout. All tobacco use will be prohibited anywhere on the campus — this includes parking lots and privately owned vehicles. This policy applies to patients, visitors, vendors, employees, physicians and anyone else on the hospital campus.
All patients will be notified of the tobacco-free policy prior to admission. Smoking-cessation counseling may be provided at any time during patients' hospital stays. While we do not require employees and patients to quit, we are here to help them if they choose to stop using tobacco.
In addition, Desert Springs Hospital's gift shop will sell nicotine gum and patches to assist those who use tobacco. Free information, telephone counseling education and an individualized quit plan with ongoing support are all available from the Nevada Tobacco Users Helpline. Please call 702-877-6642 or 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) to learn more.
