Thanks to new technology, you can have greater peace of mind if your doctor isn't in the hospital when you start labor or are experiencing predelivery issues. Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center's new AirStrip OB^® gives doctors remote access to real-time information about patients in The Maternity Center.

Instead of relying on caregivers to relay details about patients over the telephone, doctors can use their personal digital assistants (PDAs) or Smart Phones to view maternal vital signs and contraction patterns, fetal heart tracings and other data on high-resolution screens. The AirStrip OB software allows doctors to zoom in and out to better view the monitoring "strips." They also can scroll through previous strips and view a patient's historical information.

Spring Valley Hospital's AirStrip OB technology doesn't replace personal attention from your obstetrician. "We're offering this new technology because it makes it easier for physicians to provide quality care to our expectant moms," says Kelly Hughson, RN, Director of Women's Services at Spring Valley Hospital.
