Blood Conservation and Transfusion-Free Medicine
Reducing or eliminating the amount of blood used during surgery can lead to fewer infections and a shorter hospital visit. Valley Hospital has the region's only formal transfusion-free medicine and surgery program with dedicated physicians, staff and resources. Techniques to minimize blood loss include the use of:

  • Special devices, such as a Cell-Saver, that filter and then return patients own blood using a continuous circuit
  • Surgical instruments that cut and cauterize
  • Medicines that increase red blood cell production and encourage clotting
  • Blood dilution therapies
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques
  • Pediatric blood draws
Attend one of our seminars on March 21 or May 23. Click here for more information. To RSVP, call 702-671-8954.

Free Blood Sugar Testing
According to the American Diabetes Association, there are 23.6 million children and adults in the U.S. with diabetes, and 5.7 million of them don't even know it.

The Diabetes Resource Center at Valley Hospital is offering free blood glucose checks on March 18 from 8 to 10 AM in the front lobby of Valley Hospital. Participants should fast for at least eight hours before testing.

The Diabetes Resource Center is accredited by the American Diabetes Association. The Center offers counseling and educational classes. Diabetes education is covered by most insurance, including Medicare. For information or to make an appointment, please call 702-477-6530.
