Manage Arthritis Pain -- Stay Active

If you have arthritis, exercise may be the last thing on your mind. But experts say regular exercise not only improves your overall health, it also can make it easier to live with arthritis.

"Moderate exercise can reduce joint pain and stiffness and improve overall strength, flexibility and endurance," says Traci Grossman, MD, an internist at Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center.

To maximize the benefits you gain from exercise, Dr. Grossman recommends that you:

  • Ask your doctor for advice.
  • Start slowly and build your strength.
  • Vary your routine and include aerobic exercises, weight training and stretching exercises.

To make an appointment with Dr. Grossman, call Direct Doctors Plus at 388-4888.
