| ![]() ![]() Improved Treatment for Rectal Cancer
Major advances in the treatment of rectal cancer have dramatically improved the outlook for patients with this common type of cancer.
For example, new technology helps physicians determine the seriousness of the disease before surgery and select the best method of treatment. In addition, enhanced surgical techniques reduce the risk of local recurrences and often allow surgeons to preserve patients' normal bowel function.
"Treatment of rectal cancer has improved significantly over the past few years," says Cesare Peraglie, MD, a colorectal surgeon at Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center. "Patients with rectal cancer now have a better chance of survival and an improved quality of life following treatment."
Dr. Peraglie will talk about the latest treatments for rectal cancer at a free seminar at 2 p.m. on June 12 at Desert Springs Hospital. Refreshments will be served. To make a reservation, call 369-7911.
