Cancer patients get more than advanced and comprehensive treatment for their disease at The Cancer Institute of Nevada at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center. The hospital also offers classes and support groups to help improve the well-being of cancer patients throughout the community.

Here are some of the ongoing events available at Summerlin Hospital:

Look Good ... Feel Better
This class teaches women makeup and skin care techniques that can help offset the damaging effects of chemotherapy and radiation. This class, which is presented by the American Cancer Society, is held from 9 to 11 AM on the first Monday of each month in Conference Room 1 at Summerlin Hospital. Upcoming classes are scheduled for July 5, Aug. 2, Sept. 6, Oct. 4, Nov. 1 and Dec. 6. To reserve a spot in this class, call 233-7670.

Living With Cancer
This educational series is for cancer patients, their family members and friends. It focuses on the importance of making healthy lifestyle changes and strategies to improve well-being. Meetings are held at 6 PM on the second Wednesday of the month in Conference Room 1 at Summerlin Hospital. Upcoming classes are scheduled for July 14, Aug. 11, Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8. Learning to Live Support Group
Summerlin Hospital Medical Center and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society offer a support group for people with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and Hodgkin's disease. Meetings are held from 6 to 7 PM on the fourth Wednesday of the month in Conference Room 3 at Summerlin Hospital. The group is scheduled to meet July 28, Aug. 25, Sept. 22, Oct. 27, Nov. 24 and Dec. 22. For more information about the group, call 436-4220.
