Things You Can Do to Avoid Allergy Triggers
Spring and summer are prime time for sneezing and watery eyes if you're allergic.
If you have allergies, talk to your doctor. He or she can find out what causes your allergies. Once you know the cause, you can take medicine or follow steps to reduce the sneezing and watery eyes.
Outdoor causes
Trees, grass and pollen can cause allergies outdoors. Here are some things you can do about these allergies:
- Stay away from grass that is being cut. It can stir up pollen that causes allergies.
- Try to stay indoors during the allergy season, at least in the morning. Allergies are worst in the morning.
- Shut all windows and doors when allergies bother you. This will help keep the pollen out.
Indoor causes
Pets, cockroaches, dust mites and mold cause allergies indoors. Here are some things you can do about these allergies:
- Don't let pets sleep on your bed. Animal dander can cause allergies if you breathe it in.
- If you have cockroaches, use bug spray.
- Keep your house dust-free. Wipe all furniture with a moist cloth. Don't forget to clean rugs and curtains often.
Taking the right steps can minimize the effect allergies have on you.
