-- Charles Dudley Warner,
My Summer in a Garden (1871) The Auxiliary of Summerlin Hospital Medical Center has announced plans to raise funds to build a Healing Garden on the hospital's campus. The Healing Garden will be located just outside of the hospital's Meditation Room, a room recently redesigned and refurbished by the Auxiliary. "Our vision is to create a soothing atmosphere where patients and staff of any religious belief can feel spiritually nurtured and comforted," says Elaine Trigiano, President of the Summerlin Hospital Auxiliary. "To do this, we plan to carry the ‘circle of life' theme used in the Meditation Room décor through to the landscape architecture of the surrounding grounds." The Healing Garden design incorporates the Auxiliary's theme with circular-shaped, private seating areas and a gazebo, as well as features such as decorative concrete spheres. The landscaping also calls for rosebush-lined paths, shade trees and healing herbs. Various levels of corporate sponsorships are being offered by the Auxiliary, as well as name-engraved pavers that will permanently border the garden path for just a $125 donation. For more information, visit Summerlin Hospital's gift shop from 8 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday, or noon to 4 PM on weekends.
