| ![]() ![]() Interventional Cardiologist Teaches Other Physicians the Latest Peripheral Vascular Techniques Interventional cardiologists from across the country will be heading to Valley Hospital Medical Center this year to receive specialized interventional peripheral vascular training from Carlos Fonte, MD, an interventional cardiologist. Dr. Fonte is one of about two dozen experts in the United States selected to host an interventional peripheral vascular training program. Ciné-Med Research Institute, a company that provides specialized training for physicians, selected the participating doctors. Doctors who participate in the program will spend two days with Dr. Fonte as they learn to perform a variety of interventional diagnostic tests and procedures to address problems in the peripheral blood vessels throughout the body. "The same problems that cause blockages in the arteries that supply blood to the heart can affect the vessels in other parts of the body as well," says Dr. Fonte. "We're helping physicians gain the knowledge and experience they need to help patients with peripheral vascular problems." Dr. Fonte recently conducted his first training program. Three more training sessions are scheduled this year.
