Seniors CAN Program

Keeping up with all the available information about healthy aging and maintaining your independence can be confusing. To help sort out the confusion and answer many of your questions, the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will offer the 16-week Seniors CAN program at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center beginning Jan. 12.

The Seniors CAN program will touch on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Easy tips to prevent and shorten colds at no cost and without medication
  • Little-known measures that can help prevent the one-in-three chance of hospitalization for people over age 65
  • Why the most important information on a food label doesn't involve calories, fat grams, sodium or sugar
  • How to get off telemarketing lists

Seniors CAN provides teaching staff from the University of Nevada who present information on a variety of wellness-related topics in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

This series is presented each Wednesday from 1 to 2:30 PM. Preregistration is required to participate and receive the free materials. Class size is limited to the first 25 who preregister.

Each person participating in the Seniors CAN Program will be taking part in a University of Nevada study designed to improve the quality of life for older adults by bringing educational opportunities into community neighborhoods. All classes and materials are free for registered participants.

Sign up now by calling Heidi at 257-5588.
