Valley Hospital Stroke Protocol
Saves Time, Improves Recovery
According to the National Stroke
Association, only one in three
people recognize the symptoms of
a stroke. As a result, many people who
suffer a stroke fail to seek immediate
medical attention that could save their
lives. Valley Hospital Medical Center's
Emergency Critical Care Center has a
special protocol its medical team activates
for suspected stroke patients.
What is a stroke?
A stroke occurs when the blood vessels
that supply blood to the brain burst or
become narrowed or blocked. The
longer the brain is deprived of blood,
the greater the chance of permanent
damage, disability and even death.
